How To Create Your Own Personal Brand

I have something a bit different from my usual posts for you guys today, it's a special guest post from my amazing pal Arianne Williams
Arianne is training in PR and is entering her third year of her degree at university - and also runs various social media profiles on behalf of charities and businesses.
Basically, this girl already has a massive insight into the PR world from a PR perspective.
So that's enough from me, I'll let Arianne introduce herself & her blog properly...

You’re probably wondering what I’m doing here, so let me introduce myself!
As Lucy has said, I'm studying PR and French at university and have been getting myself as much experience as possible in the world of PR on my blog, through volunteering work and as an intern.
You can find me at my blog PR Professional in Training!
And I'm here to share a little bit about creating your own personal brand.

So what is your “personal brand”?
It is your reputation - who you are and what you do. It is so often now created via your social media presence, as well as how you interact with people within your industry.
But how can you create your brand?

Plan what you want your personal brand to be
Starting a beauty blog? You know this is something you want to be known for. Looking to follow a certain career path? Make sure this is linked to the presence you create for yourself.
Create a plan of who you are and how you want to be known.

Check your current online presence
Google yourself and your hometown. What comes up? This is where the content you put online will ultimately appear.
What do you want people to see about you?

Create a theme
If you're on more than one social media platform (and let's face it, who isn't?) then you want to make it easy for people to find you on all of them.
Use the same username, photo and colour scheme to create a theme for your brand.

Link your accounts
As well as creating this theme, you need to make sure your accounts link.
Share links to different accounts so people can connect with you on them all.

Associate yourself with people in your sector
Follow people that inspire you. Read content that they post. Share things that will be of interest to them.
Linking yourself with them will help you to move in a similar direction.

Be purposeful with what you share
Always think about your personal brand and what you are contributing you your online presence.

But most of all be yourself
As cheesy as it sounds, make sure your brand is about you, what you can do and what you aspire to be.
It needs to show the best version of you.

I hope these tips can help you to create your own personal brand, whether that's for your blog, your business or simply yourself.
Want to know more? You can read more like this on my blog or send me a message on Twitter.

And thank you for having me here Lucy!
