New Day, New Domain

Follow

A bit of a diverted post today, but I really wanted to share with you guys that I've finally got my own domain and ditched the .blogspot.co.uk add-on to the blog URL.
No real surprises, but I've changed my URL to reflect the name of my blog and now reside quite happily at www.lucycynthia.com!

I'm not too sure how this will affect new posts showing up on Bloglovin' yet, so if you're a regular reader on there and enjoy my blog so far (if you do that's amazing, and I'm so happy anyone is even reading it) then it might be worth checking out my social media links below to keep updated on any future content.

In terms of any advice I can give if you're thinking of swapping over to your own domain, there's 3 key things I would say:

1) DO IT. I already feel like I own my blog more, and that it looks more professional.

2) Do your research. I didn't know anything about domain privacy etc before reading up on the topic while wondering about doing this to start with.

3) Read this post by Dana at the amazing Wonderforest. It talks through step-by-step on how to set up the custom domain bought via GoDaddy on the Blogger platform. I followed it to set up my domain, and while some of the photos in the guide are a little bit different to what was shown on my laptop screen, it was virtually flawless and so easy to follow. Dana writes tonnes of great blogging tips/guides - definitely check her out if you haven't already!

Do you have your own domain? Or, are you worried about taking the plunge? Are they even worth it?
I'd love to know your thoughts xx

  5. I have actually just done this! I've got the co.uk part and like you ditched the blogspot.com part!! I HATED it with a passion and felt so young when I saw it in my address bar! Now like you I feel grown up as well as the proper owner of my blog now that I've ditched it! :) :D I also used GoDaddy and found them so easy to use and their customer care was second to none! :P
It's a great feeling and I also want to do a complete blog re-design now too. Then I'll finally feel like a 'proper blogger!' haha! xx
