The Highlighter Edit

I was never a highlighting kind of gal. I actually rolled my eyes at the 'strobing' trend of 2015.
I was dedicated to my Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel bronzer; the contour shades on my ABH palettes were running down quicker than anything else...
Fast forward a few months and I'm addicted to walking around looking like I've bloody bathed in shimmery gold pigment.

I know I'm not the only one to give in (so, so willingly give in) to highlighting and I honestly feel like my cheekbones are unfinished without a quick dusting of highlighter now.
And here we are, my current highlighter collection!

So my first dip into the sea of highlighting products out there was the Topshop Glow Pot. I've got mine in the Polished shade, which is best described as a white gold colour. I can only find links for the Gleam shade which is more of a rose gold, but same product!
What drew me to this is the cream texture, because my skin just has such a problem with powder products sometimes, and I really do prefer a more dewy complexion. A little bit of this goes such a long way and while it can be used anywhere on the face I really love using this one as an under-brow highlighter to really make my brows look defined and make sure everyone can see that arch I've worked for gurl *sassy hand girl emoji*
A great starter product but as it turned out I now prefer buildable powder products for my cheekbones...

And this brings me to the love of my life, the Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder in Bronze Glow. I'm not even going to debate that £34 is a lot to spend on one product BUT HAVE YOU SEEN IT? I didn't hesitate for more than 30 seconds before treating myself to it, especially once I'd swatched the tester on the counter.
It's an absolutely stunning powder product that is just so pigmented yet has quite small glitter particles in it, so you barely need to pick up any on the brush to get a really gorgeous glow. I have actually taken to using this one every day as a part of my makeup routine, and then layer it up heavier for a night out.
If you have me on snapchat this is the highlighter you'll see me doing ridiculous things with my head to get that glow showing in dem video stories... yeah sorrynotsorry.

Being the lucky girl I am, I actually received the next two products as birthday presents from my beautiful friends Jess and Kylie! Up first, we have the BareMinerals Pure Radiance Powder. Described as 'All Over Face Colour' but all I can recommend is that you don't use this all over your face... It's so dense in its pigment which is great because you can really do the whole strobing thing with it, but all over your face? I personally wouldn't!
It's a peachy shade rather than golden, which is really nice and will suit a lot of skin tones. I find my more golden highlighters are more for medium skintones like mine, whereas peach is a bit more universal. It seems to have a mixture of sizes of glitter particles which gives a multi-dimensional feel when on your cheek bones.

And saving my newest (and prettiest) addition until last... I introduce the Dior Nude Air Glowing Gardens in shade Glowing Nude. Swatching this prior to using it caused physical pain it's so beautiful. Before I start with the actual highlighter, the product itself is so luxurious. It comes in a beautiful chrome magnetic compact with a mirror, a small velvet pouch to keep it pristine and also a little Christian Dior embossed Kabuki brush for on-the-go applying.
This powder is so fine it applies almost cream-like, and has a really beautiful softening effect. It's a much more subdued golden tone than the Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder, but still more beige than peach and has a hint of iridescence. I actually love everything about this highlighter so much I'm going to treat myself to the other shade next time I'm near a Dior counter... so probably quite soon!

Swatches from Left to Right: Dior Nude Air Glowing Gardens in Glowing Nude, Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder in Bronze Glow, BareMinerals Pure Radiance Powder, Topshop Glow Pot in Polished.

What's your thoughts on highlighters? Will the strobing trend continue?

Ladies Day

I went AWOL again, I knowwwww.
Basically some really, really exciting things have been happening in my life and I've got an incredible opportunity (non-blog related) happening which is taking up the majority of my time at the moment. So if you amazing guys can bear with for just a little bit I'll be resuming back with consistent posting once more!

When I was recently approached by Ladbrokes to enter into their 'ideal Ladies Day outfit' competition I thought it sounded like a bit of fun so why not! I've never actually been to the races, so this post took a little bit of research, but I'm really glad with the look I've put together.
Cheltenham Ladies Day is on the 16th of March this year, and it just seems to be just as well known for the style of the visitors as it is for the actual races. What appeals to me (and no, not just the copious amounts of champagne I imagine is drunk) is that it seems like a really fun chance to dress up with your friends and do something a bit different to usual.

For my outfit I've stuck to my own style, because even though the ladies of Cheltenham Ladies Day look lovely in their massive hats, I'm more of a massive hair girl myself.
I've paired my favourite, if not most tight fitting, Missguided dress with a faux fur trimmed aubergine winter coat and some KILLER heels. They are ridiculously high and fancy and the neutral colour was perfect not to detract from the rest of the look.

I'll be linking the voting app here as soon as it goes live!
So hopefully you love this girly, dressy look enough to give me a lil vote.

Have you been to Ladies Day before? What's your thoughts on my take on the fashion of Ladies Day?
Let me know xx

King Kylie Krush

Okay, starting this post off, I think we genuinely shot this on THE windiest day in the world. Storm Henry was brewing and I'm just thrilled I didn't get blown away, so sorry if I don't look super happy or polished in this one!

I, like 49 million other people (according to instagram), adore Kylie Jenner's style and lifestyle as we see it. This outfit post isn't the first time I've drawn some inspo from that infamous Kardashian/Jenner clan (see my Kim K look here) but it is a lot different to what I usually post on here.

I  went full laid-back Kylie J on this look, pairing a simple black crop tee with some leggings and my camel coat from Missguided. It's so casual, so easy and just really relaxed. I like it. I usually wear heels and dress up whenever I leave the house because that's just my style, but going more casual actually felt a bit good.

My trainers are from Nike (similar here) and they just complete the outfit and casual vibe that's going on here. I'm keeping jewellery to a real minimum at the moment also, and especially with this outfit I just wanted to keep it really simple.

So there you have it, my 4 piece look for those more casual days.
What do you think? Do you follow Kylie Jenner on instagram and love/hate her style?
Let me know your thoughts on the look xx
